BEE

Key to the design of the BEE was vehicle dynamics. Frontline cars always provide sensational driving experiences and our Electric Edition needed to somehow provide that: a characteristic not usually associated with electric cars. But the Frontline magic has been achieved by pairing our popular Mazda transmission, with a 40kWh electric motor, which also achieves a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

The brakes and suspension are LE50-proven but have been specifically tailored to suit the new drivetrain. The car achieves the ideal balance between comfort and sporting dynamics: a magic that makes all Frontline cars so special.

A standard Type 2 electric charging plug is used, discretely housed, and a full charge for the BEE is possible in 5 hours using a domestic 7kw charger.

From the outside, it is hard to know the BEE is all-electric. Clues are the rear charging cap in place of the fuel filler and the elimination of exhaust pipes.

The BEE is designed to fulfil the requirements of those who want exciting, reliable, exclusive classic car ownership but with a fully electric drivetrain. For urban environments the BEE is set to be more practical than our high-performance internal combustion engine Editions, while typically still achieving a 140mile range.

The BEE is of similar weight to a standard MGB or Frontline Edition but with a more dynamic, near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The performance is far superior to a standard MGB and, with so few moving parts, reliability and low cost servicing is as expected.
